ATC Peachtree City 5K/10K Run

Rhian, Mom, and myself traveled to Peachtree City this morning in the cold rain for an Atlanta Track Club race. It was 35 degrees and rain (with the threat of snow) at the start. Rhian and I ran the 10K (6.2 miles), and Mom ran the 5K. Mom finished in 38:02 and got 3rd in her age group. Rhian finished in 62:21 and finished 3rd in her age group. I finished in 57:58 (didn't place in top 3). I had biked 20 miles in 51 minutes and swam a half mile in 21 minutes on Thursday, so today was really a training run for me. (Not that I would have placed; there are many "hosses" in my group). Considering the conditions, it really wasn't that bad. The course is mostly rolling hills and on a trail with lots of scenic views. All 3 of us are competing for what is known as the "Bunny Award", an award given to those that run all 15 Atlanta Track Club races throughout the year. Had it not been for this, I think we would have slept in, ate breakfast, enjoyed the impending snow, and postponed our run until tomorrow. I'm glad we didn't.

Okay Chris forgot to tell about the most important part of this race day! I, Aunt Karen, woke up out of deep sleep at 6am on a Saturday, drove my mother to Chris and Rhian's house to go run the race and I stayed at their house to babysit my wonderful niece and nephew! Reagan woke up first at 7:15 am, and during the three short hours that I was there, Reagan blew up two diapers~ you know the kind where it goes up the back! Chris forgot to mention to me that Reagan did not have a BM the day before. She must have known I was coming and saved it for me! ~Sidebar...Chris ALWAYS says that Reagan just had a BM so I don't have worry about changing her, and the minute they leave, Reagan lets loose! I even made up a song for her about it! Maybe Christian and I can sing it and Chris can put that on You Tube~ Anyway, I had to help Christian rebuild his train tracks that he destroyed the night before. The boy is smart! I was suggesting ways to put the tracks so that the bridge could go over and he would say, "No, that won't work, I'll show you!" Christian then would do as I suggested, put the train on the track, and it would crash into bridge. Then just like his father, he looks at me and says, "See, I told you that it wouldn't work!" We finally figured it out and had fun having the train run over a toy person that was chasing the train, yelling, "Hey dude! You forgot me!" Beleive me when I said we did this over and over 1.5 hours! I forgot to add that Christian likes to make his own, as he calls it, "Jingle Bells"~ choo!-choo! ~at the top of his lungs in a high pitched voice! He gets in almost a trance, playing with the trains! It was fun!
