It Snowed! Again!

Crazy weather continues in Atlanta. After having temperatures in the 60's on Monday, we had severe storms move through yesterday morning, high winds that afternoon that blew a tree down in our driveway, and snow early this morning (2 AM) that amounted only to a light dusting and was gone by daybreak. My dad had forecast snow for the 23rd, so he is still pretty reliable with his forecast. It's supposed to drop into the mid 20's tonight and be back in the 60's this Friday. Did I say that this is some crazy weather? :o)

Reagan's First Tooth!

Reagan's first tooth finally made it's appearance on Friday. They've been looking like they were going to bust through for a long while. Plus, she's been chewing on everything! Christian's first 2 teeth made their appearance right on his 6 month birthday. I can no longer call her my "toothless wonder". :o)

Kyle Starts His First Game!

Kyle, the only freshman to make his high school team, started in Tuesday's game against Creekside High School at right halfback. On a chilly, windy evening, Kyle assisted with a throw-in (he can throw it far), played all but 15 minutes, and Our Lady of Mercy won 2-0. According to his Pap Pap and Grandma, Kyle played very well. Not bad for someone, who as a 3 year-old, would run off the soccer field crying, and at 4 would just stand on the field crying. He's going to be incredible when he's a senior. (If he doesn't go pro first ;->)

I didn't go to the game, since it was too cold for me to take the kids, so I didn't get any pictures. So I've posted a pic of Kyle from his game with St. Pius Middle School last spring.

The Sharps at Ringling Brothers Circus

All the Atlanta Sharps attended the Barnum & Bailey Circus today. This was Reagan's first circus and Christian's 3rd Barnum & Bailey and 5th overall. (Not bad for someone who's yet to turn 3!) Here is a funny story. On the way to the circus, Christian fell asleep about 15 minutes before we reached. It was the funniest thing to watch, because he knew where he was going, and fought the sleep so hard. He fell asleep and awoke about 5 times before sleep won the battle. What was funnier, as soon as I parked the car, he woke up, wide awake, ready to go. He had been looking forward to this since last week! Everybody really enjoyed the circus, especially Christian (of course) as well as Reagan. Dad (Pap Pap) enjoyed it as well (it goes without saying, of course! :o>) For a girl who's macocious (see previous post), Reagan really had a lot to see! The highlight was getting to ride the train around the floor and wave to the crowd and see everything up close. Leaving was a bit of a challenge, since we had severe storms occurring with a tornado warning close by, and I had to go out into the rain to get the car. (Stupid me left the umbrellas in the car!) Then it became more of a challenge since security moved Rhian and the kids before I could reach them. Thank goodness for our cell phones, or I'd probably still be driving around looking for them! :o)

P.S. If you're wondering about the hats, they're to honor Bello the clown's hair for Ringling Brother's Bellobration (as you will see in the pictures).

Christian & Reagan Grocery Shopping

When I go grocery shopping at Kroger's, Christian really likes riding in the car-shaped shopping cart. For the first time yesterday, Reagan got to enjoy sitting next to Christian in it. She really loved it. She loves to look at everything. There's a Trini slang word for it, it's called being "macocious" (meh-co-shus). It means to be a maco, which in Trinidad, means to study everybody's business. There's even a calypso about it! Anyways, Christian really enjoyed having her as company, and even showed her how to use the steering wheel! :o)

Here are a few pictures I took with my camera phone. Enjoy!

Rhian & Chris's Valentine's Day

Yesterday, Rhian and I celebrated our 16th Valentine's Day by exchanging cards and going out to eat. Rhian's mom (Madre) came over and watched the kids while we went out to eat at the Cafe Sunflower, a vegetarian restaurant in Buckhead that serves chef prepared meals at a reasonable price. The food here is ALWAYS excellent and full of flavor. What is significant about the Cafe Sunflower is that it's the place where both Christian and Reagan made their public debuts, each less than 2 months old. A funny side note: Rhian told Christian it was Valentine's Day before she left for work yesterday. Christian apparently thought it was a place to go, and all day kept saying, "Daddy we have to get ready to go to Valentine's Day!" He was really stressed about it, and only calmed down after I repeatedly told him that it was a holiday, and not a place.

Spring Is Near?

Flowers are starting to bloom here. Daffodils, crocus, and quince are beginning to bloom, and soon the forsythia will be as well. Temperatures have been up and down like a yo-yo. Tuesday we had a high of 68, yesterday a high of 40 with a bit of very light sleet and snow (no accumulation), and this morning it was 21. Tomorrow's forecast is a high of 64.

Guys Day Out at the Big Apple Circus

Dad (Pap Pap), Kyle, Christian, and I attended the Big Apple Circus at Stone Mountain on Sunday. Christian is now at the age where he can really appreciate and enjoy the circus. He got to meet the ringmaster (and founder), had plenty of popcorn, and got to see horses, ponies, dogs, and cats, along with Grandma the Clown. The Big Apple Circus is a one ring circus, and is a little different than Ringling Brothers or most other circuses. They do more performance art that is very entertaining. Kyle and his Pap Pap have been going for years. This was Christian and I's second time. I took lots of pictures, which was somewhat difficult, since it's pretty dark and no flash is allowed. I still managed some good shots though.

Reagan Turns 7 Months

I'm a little behind here, but Reagan turned 7 months last Thursday. She spent it hanging out at Barnes & Noble with her brother, watching him play with Thomas the Tank Engine. She is crawling better now. At first she was only using one arm to crawl, now she is using one arm and one leg and crawls pretty fast. Rhian and I say that if she learns to use all 4's, she'll be faster than us! She still smiles all the time, and REALLY loves her brother.

Christian's Soccer Practice

Christian had another practice today. Daddy forgot his ball, so he was a little disappointed. It took him 5 minutes after he reached before he wanted to participate. Once he went to the potty, he was good to go. He did very well. He was always the first one to finish dribbling up and down the floor. He did very well listening to Coach Graham whenever he was told to do something. He was real cute during his water breaks. He looked like a real athlete doing an add for Gatorade, breathing hard, sweating, and water spilling onto his shirt as he drank. I wish I had my camera! (I know Karen and Rhonda find that had hard to believe ;->)

Christian & Reagan's Daily Diary

I was trying to figure a way to keep a daily diary of Christian and Regan's daily activities without making the blog seem mundane with simple things that were said and done. What I will do is post daily comments under this topic, sort of as a diary. I will still post new topics any time they do something significant, but for the every day stuff, I'll post it under here. I have posted a link to this under "Links to 'Related' Websites" for future reference.

George/Dad/Pap Pap Turns 67!

Yesterday we celebrated Dad's 67th birthday at his house. Dad started a tradition when Karen and I were young. On our birthday, he would tell us to get up stairs in the kitchen and clean our mess. When we got upstairs, there would be a cake with all the candles lit. I think Karen and I took him seriously once, ever since we have known what it is, and continue to do it. Christian carried on the Sharp tradition yesterday evening by telling Pap Pap to come up stairs and clean up his mess. Instead of the traditional birthday cake, we had birthday cupcakes, since we always seem to have a lot of cake left, and I usually end up taking it home, since I hate seeing food go to waste. It's hard to believe Dad is 2/3 of a century old! He doesn't look a day over 66! :-)

Chris & Christian's Nite Out at the Basketball Game

Christian and I, courtesy of my friend Steven Chaffee from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, attended the Armstrong vs Clayton State basketball game 15 minutes from our house at Clayton State University Wednesday evening. Steve is a friend and an honorary member of the men's soccer alumni at Armstrong (where I attended in 84-85), and is manager of the basketball team there. He offers tickets to any alumni in exchange for being a part of the soccer alumni. It was a great basketball game, even though Armstrong lost 70-61. Christian really enjoyed himself. When asked what he liked about the game, he said he liked the music and the girls dancing. Christian also flirted with some of the girls from the women's basketball team who were sitting behind us. What was even funnier was when he said to me "Watch" and proceeded to walk with a blonde girl (@ 6 years old), who was walking past us with her mother, and smiled at her the whole time he was walking with her. Christian is going to be a handful when he gets older!
